ولَرَقُّواand they would have felt compassion لَهُfor him وماand would not have زَجَروهُrebuked him
ولَرَقُّوا لَهُ وما زَجَروهُ
They reproached him; had they known, they would have excused him.
They blamed him though they knew his excuse,
And they would have felt compassion for him and would not have rebuked him.
And would have pitied him, had they but chastised him.
قَبَرُوهُthey buried him بهجرهمْwith their abandonment حينَwhen صَدُّواthey turned away

ثُمَّ عادُوا بِوَصْلِهِمْ نَشَرُوهُ
They buried him with their abandonment when they turned away.
They buried him with their estrangement when they turned away,
Then they returned and, through their reunion, brought him back to life.
Then returned through their intimacy and revived him.
