Tall and slender in her stature,
Slender of waist is she
she mirrors for us the form of rushes.
Telling of days gone by
كَأَنَّهاas though she were عُمْرُthe life of الفَتىthe young man
وَالنَّارُand the fire فيهاwithin her كالأَجَلْlike the appointed end (death)
She is like a young man's life,
As if she were the life of a youth
and the fire within her is like death.
And in her a fire like fate
