ياO ظالِماًunjust one فيin كُلِّall أَفْعالِهِhis deeds
مَاwhatever شِئْتَyou wish فَاصْنَعْthen do it فَلَناfor we have مَوْقِفُa reckoning
O you who are unjust in all your deeds,
O oppressor in all his deeds
Do whatever you wish; a reckoning awaits us.
Do as you wish, for we have our stance
رَضِيتُI have accepted بِالقَسْرِunder compulsion بِظُلْمِthe injustice of الهَوىlove
مَنْone who خَصْمُهُhis adversary القاضيthe judge مَتىwhen يُنْصَفُis granted justice
I have accepted, under compulsion, love's injustice.
I am content with coercion and the injustice of passion
When can one whose adversary is the judge receive justice?
When will one have justice if the judge is his opponent?
يَحْلِفُhe swears بِاللَهِby God فَياso, oh لَيْتَهُif only he
إِذاwhen أَرادَhe intends الخُلْفَbreaking his word لاnot يَحْلِفُhe swears
He swears by God—oh, if only he
He swears by Allah, oh if only
would not swear when he intends to break his word.
When he intends to break his word, he would not swear
إِنِّيindeed I لأَسْتَحْييsurely feel ashamed إِذاwhen مَرَّhe passes بيby me
فَقِيلَand it is said هذاthis المَوعِدُthe promiser المُخْلِفُwho breaks his word
Truly, I feel ashamed when he passes by me,
I am ashamed when it is said as I pass by
and it is said, 'This is the promiser who breaks his word.'
