ياO بَدْرُBadr (full moon) بادِرْhasten إِلَيَّto me بالكاسِwith the cup
يا بَدْرُ بادِرْ إِلَيَّ بالكاسِ
فَرُبَّfor many a خَيْرٍgood thing أَتىhas come عَلىamid يَاسِdespair
فَرُبَّ خَيْرٍ أَتى عَلى يَاسِ
O Badr, hasten to me with the cup.
O full moon, hasten to me with the cup
For many a good thing has come amid despair.
For much good has come from despair
ولاand do not تقَبِّلْkiss يَدِيmy hand فإِنَّfor indeed فميmy mouth
ولا تقَبِّلْ يَدِي فإِنَّ فمي
أَولىworthier بهاof it (the kiss) مِنْthan يَدِيmy hand ومِنْand than راسيmy head
أَولى بها مِنْ يَدِي ومِنْ راسي
And do not kiss my hand, for my mouth
Kiss not my hand, for my mouth
is worthier of that kiss than my hand or my head.
Is more deserving than my hand or my head
