كَتَبْتُI wrote إِلَيْكُمُto you بِيَدِwith the hand of الدُّموعِtears
وَماand not أَمْلىdictated سِوىother than قَلْبيmy heart المَرُوعِterror-stricken
I wrote to you with the hand of tears,
I wrote to you with tears as my pen
and none but my terror-stricken heart dictated.
And my heart dictated nothing but sorrow
أَرىI see آثارَكُمْyour traces فَأَذُوبُso I melt شَوقاًwith longing
وَأَسْكُبُand I pour out فيin مَوَاطِنِكُمْyour dwelling places دُمُوعيmy tears
I see your traces and melt with longing,
I see your traces and melt with yearning
and pour out my tears in your dwelling places.
I pour my tears where you once were
وأَسْأَلُand I ask مَنْthe one who بِبَيْنِكُمُwith separation from you رَمَانيstruck me
يَمُنُّbestows a favor عَلَيَّupon me مِنْكُمْfrom you بِالرُّجُوعِwith the return
And I ask the one who struck me with separation from you
And ask whoever of you abandoned me
to favor me with your return.
To show me mercy and return
