وَمِنَand among البَلِيَّةِafflictions أَنَّنيthat I بِكَof you مُغْرَمٌenamored
دَنِفٌlovesick وَأَنَّكَand that you مُعْرِضٌturning away مُتَجَنِّبُkeeping aloof
And it is my misfortune to be enamored of you,
Lovesick, while you turn away and keep aloof.
هَرَبيmy flight إِلىto الإِنْصافِfairness مِنout of خَوْفِfear of النَّوىseparation
وإِليْكَand to you مِنْكَfrom you وَمِنْand from فِراقِكَparting with you أَهْرُبُI flee
I flee to fairness for fear of separation,
And to you I flee—from you and from parting with you.
