وَكَرِيمَةٍand a generous one سَقَتِwatered الرّيَاضَthe gardens بِدرِّهاwith her abundant flow
فَغَدتْso she became تَنُوبُstands in عَنِfor السَّحَابِthe clouds الهَامِعِpouring
And a generous one watered the gardens with her abundant flow,
So she came to stand in for the pouring clouds,
بِلِبَاسِwith the garb of مَحْزُونٍone in sorrow وَدَمْعَةِand the tear of عَاشِقٍa lover
وَحَنِينِand the yearning of مُشْتاقٍone who longs وَأَنَّةِand the moan of جَازعِone in anguish
With a sorrowing one's garb and a lover's tear,
And the yearning of one who longs, and the moan of one in anguish.
فَكأَنَّهَاso she is like فَلَكٌa celestial sphere يَدورُrevolves وَعُلْوُهُand its heights
يَرْمِيpelts القَرارthe ground بِكُلِّwith every نَجْمٍstar طَالِعِrising
So she is like a revolving celestial sphere, whose heights
Pelt the ground with every rising star.
