رِضا الفنا عن بَقائي بعدَكُمْ غَضَبُ

رِضا الفنا عن بَقائي بعدَكُمْ غَضَبُ

كأَنَّما راحَتي مُذْ غِبتُمُ تعبُ

كأَنَّما راحَتي مُذْ غِبتُمُ تعبُ

Death’s approval of my living on after you is wrath.

My survival after you is anger, not contentment

It is as though my rest, since you went away, were weariness.

It's as if my rest has been fatigue since your absence

وَاخَجْلتي من بقائي بعدَ فُرْقَتِكُمْ

وَاخَجْلتي من بقائي بعدَ فُرْقَتِكُمْ

إِذ ليس لي في حياتي بَعدكم أَربُ

إِذ ليس لي في حياتي بَعدكم أَربُ

Alas, my shame at living on after parting from you!

And I'm ashamed of surviving after our separation

For I have no purpose in my life after you.

For without you my life holds no profit

وَلَيسَ مَوتي عَجيباً بَعْدَ بينِكُمُ

وَلَيسَ مَوتي عَجيباً بَعْدَ بينِكُمُ

وإِنَّما في حياتي بَعدكم عَجَبُ

وإِنَّما في حياتي بَعدكم عَجَبُ

And my death is not astonishing after your departure.

Nor would my death be wondrous after being amongst you

And the only wonder is that I live on after you.

Rather, the wonder is that I live on after you
