لاmay … not أَرَّقَkeep sleepless اللَهُGod عَينَيthe two eyes of مَنْthe one who يُؤَرِّقُنيkeeps me sleepless
وَلاnor مَلاfill مثلlike قلبيmy heart قَلْبَهُhis heart بُرَحَاanguish
May God not keep sleepless the eyes of him who keeps me sleepless,
nor fill his heart, as mine is filled, with anguish.
قَدْindeed سَرَّنيpleased me أَنَّهُمْthat they قَدْalready سَرَّهُمْpleased them سَقَميmy sickness
فَازْدَدْتُso I increased سُقْماًin sickness لِيَزْدادواso that they might increase بِهِthrough it فَرَحاin joy
Indeed, it pleased me that my sickness had pleased them,
so I grew sicker, that their joy in it might grow.
