نِ مُجَرَّداً بِيَدِ الفُتُونِ
In his glances is the sword of death,
With his sheath, the sword of flexing,
unsheathed in the hand of enchantment.
Bare in the hand of allurement.

So my eyes’ tears, when they saw
him, flow freely—tears once held in reserve.
Him, pour forth with guarded weeping.
