وَالشَّمْسُand the sun مُسْفِرَةٌradiant والبَرْقُand the lightning خَلاسُa swift snatcher
Rain-blessings on a day when the clouds’ bow appeared,
Watering a day the bow of clouds appeared in it
The sun radiant, and the lightning a swift snatcher.
And the sun unveiled and lightning ready
كَأَنَّهُas though it were قَوْسُthe bow رامٍof an archer والبُرُوقُand the lightning bolts لَهُfor it
رَشْقُa volley السِّهامِof arrows وعَيْنُand the eye الشَّمْسِof the sun بُرْجاسُa target
As though it were an archer’s bow, and the lightning its
As if it is the bow of an archer and the lightnings for it
Volley of arrows, and the sun’s eye a target.
Are arrows' glitter and the eye of the sun an iris
