مَرِيضُlanguid كَرِّturning الطَّرْفِthe gaze مِنْfrom غَيْرِother than مَرَضْillness
مَرِيضُ كَرِّ الطَّرْفِ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَرَضْ
كأَنَّماas though قَتْليkilling me عَلَيْهِupon him مُفْتَرَضْobligatory
كأَنَّما قَتْلي عَلَيْهِ مُفْتَرَضْ
Languid is his gaze as it turns and returns, though no illness ails him;
Languid as he turns his gaze, though he suffers no illness,
As though killing me were a duty imposed upon him.
as though killing me were a duty laid upon him.
تُقْعِدُهُmake him sit down أَرْدافُهُhis buttocks إِذاwhen نَهَضْhe rises
تُقْعِدُهُ أَرْدافُهُ إِذا نَهَضْ
كأَنَّهُas though he لَيْسَis not لَهُfor him مِنْهاfor them عِوَضْa substitute
كأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْها عِوَضْ
His buttocks make him sit whenever he rises,
His buttocks make him sit down whenever he rises,
As though nothing else could take their place.
as though he had no substitute for them.
