أَوْبَةٌ مِنْ مُسافِرِ
And a conversation, as though it were
A talk that's like a glad new moon
a traveler's homecoming,
To some lone watcher of the night,

دِ عَلى جَفْنِ ساهِرِ
was sweeter than slumber
More sweet than dew to parched sand dunes
upon the eyelid of one awake.
That veil the dawn's elusive light.

I spent the night reveling in its sweetness
The scented herbs in gardens fair
in blooming gardens,
Bring joy to me while others sleep.

ومُغَنٍّ وزامِرِ
among a cupbearer and a nighttime companion,
A drink, a girl with scented hair
and a singer and a piper.
A lute to play and song to steep.
