وَقَالواand they said بِمُقْلَتِهِin his eye زُرْقَةٌblueness
وَقَالوا بِمُقْلَتِهِ زُرْقَةٌ
تشِينُmars فَظَلَّso he remained لَهاbecause of it مُطْرِقاwith his head bowed
تشِينُ فَظَلَّ لَها مُطْرِقا
And they said, “There is a blueness in his eye
that mars it,” so he remained with his head bowed because of it.
وَهَلْand does...? يَقْطَعُcut السَّيْفُthe sword يَوْمَthe day of الجِلاcombat (word continues next line)
وَهَلْ يَقْطَعُ السَّيْفُ يَوْمَ الجِلا
دِcompletion of “combat” إِذاif لَمْnot يَكُنْbe مَتْنُهُits back أَزْرَقاblue
دِ إِذا لَمْ يَكُنْ مَتْنُهُ أَزْرَقا
And does the sword cut on the day of combat,
if its back is not blue?
