ياO مُلْبِسِيyou who clothe me مِنْfrom ثِيابِgarments صَبْريmy patience
عَلَيْهِfor him مُذْsince غَابَhe went away حُلَّتَيْنِtwo robes
O you who clothe me in my patience’s garments—
O you who clothe me in the garb of patience
two robes for him, since he went away.
Since the one I love has been lost to me
لَمْdid not يَتْرُكِleave البَيْنُseparation لِيfor me دُمُوعاًtears
أَبْكيI weep بِهاwith them خِيفَةًin fear لِبَيْنِof separation
Separation left me no tears
Separation has left me no tears
to weep with in fear of parting.
With which to bewail separation
لأنَّbecause دَمْعِيmy tears أَصابَafflicted عَيْنِيmy eye
عَلَيْكَover you لَمَّاwhen بَكَتْit wept بِعَيْنِwith the evil eye
For my tears afflicted my eye
For my tears have blinded my eyes
with the evil eye, when it wept over you.
Weeping for you with both my eyes
