يَتيهُ عَلى بَدْرِ الدُّجى بِضِيائِهِ
And part of my misfortune is that I have been afflicted with a young gazelle,
A misery of mine is that I'm plagued by a Shadan,
who, with his radiance, lords it over the full moon of night.
Who wanders at the rise of night with his glow.

When the full moon sees him on the night of its fullness,
When the full moon sees him on the night it's complete,
the full moon is bewildered by him in the midst of its sky.
The moon is bewildered midst its sky's spread.

He has a governor’s might and haughtiness over me,
He has the glory of one exalted over me, and his lostness,
and I have the humiliation of a dismissed official when I meet him.
While I have the humiliation of one dismissed, when I meet him.
