يُثَقِّبُ نارَها وَاللَيلُ داجٍ

بَعيدانِ اليَلَنجوجِ الذَكِيِّ

بَعيدانِ اليَلَنجوجِ الذَكِيِّ

He kindles her fire while the night is dark,

with sticks of fragrant aloeswood.

تَقَطَّعُ بَينَنا الحاجاتُ إِلّا

تَقَطَّعُ بَينَنا الحاجاتُ إِلّا

حَوائِجَ يَعتَسِفنَ مَعَ الجَرِيِّ

حَوائِجَ يَعتَسِفنَ مَعَ الجَرِيِّ

Dealings between us are cut off, save

for needs that travel trackless ways with the messenger.
