زِدْتَyou added فِيهاto her زادَكَmay He increase you اللَّهُGod عُلاًin eminence
زِدْتَ فِيها زادَكَ اللَّهُ عُلاً
عُمْرَthe age of بَدْرَthe full moon التِّمِّfullness لمَّاwhen كَمَلاit became complete
عُمْرَ بَدْرَ التِّمِّ لمَّا كَمَلا
You have added to her—may God increase your eminence—
You increased in it, may Allah increase your provision
the age of the full moon when it reached fullness.
The full moon lived long when it became full
وَهْيَand she فيin السَّبْعِينَseventy مِثليlike me وَلَهاand she has
وَهْيَ في السَّبْعِينَ مِثلي وَلَها
بَهْجَةُthe radiance of البِكْرِthe maiden إذاwhen ماemphatic particle تُجتَلَىshe is unveiled
بَهْجَةُ البِكْرِ إذا ما تُجتَلَى
And she is seventy, like me, yet she has
She is in her seventies like me, yet still
the radiance of a maiden when she is unveiled.
