تُخفُونَyou conceal عنّيfrom me مايُزوِّرُwhat he fabricates حَاسِدٌan envious man
تُخفُونَ عنّي مايُزوِّرُ حَاسِدٌ
عَنّيabout me وَيُظهِرُand he shows ليto me مِنof الإتْعاسِthe infliction of misery
عَنّي وَيُظهِرُ لي مِن الإتْعاسِ
You conceal from me what an envious man fabricates
You hide from me what the envious forge
about me, and the affliction he shows me.
About me, and show me despair
وإذاand when سَمَحْتُمْyou permit بالعِتابِwith reproach سَمِعْتُهُI hear it
وإذا سَمَحْتُمْ بالعِتابِ سَمِعْتُهُ
خَبَراًas news يَطِيحُtumbles علىonto لِسانthe tongue of النَّاسِthe people
خَبَراً يَطِيحُ على لِسان النَّاسِ
And when you permit reproach, I hear it
If I heed reproach, I hear it
as news that tumbles onto people's tongues.
As news on people's lips
