سُكْرُintoxication الوِلايَةِof office يُلْهِيdistracts
سُكْرُ الوِلايَةِ يُلْهِي
يَاصَاحِO friend عَنfrom كُلِّevery صَاحِبْcompanion
يَاصَاحِ عَن كُلِّ صَاحِبْ
The intoxication of office distracts you,
Intoxication of power preoccupies,
O friend, from every companion.
O friend, forget all friends,
وَغَايَةُand the end السُّكْرِof intoxication صَحْوٌsobriety
وَغَايَةُ السُّكْرِ صَحْوٌ
وَلِلمَبادِيand for beginnings عَواقِبْconsequences
وَلِلمَبادِي عَواقِبْ
And the end of intoxication is sobriety,
The end of intoxication is sobriety,
and beginnings have consequences.
And all things begun have consequences.
