رَأَتْsaw صَبْرَكَyour patience الأَقدارُthe fates فيin كُلِّevery حَادِثٍcalamity
رَأَتْ صَبْرَكَ الأَقدارُ في كُلِّ حَادِثٍ
عَظيمٍgreat وَجَاءَتْand they came بِالحَقِيرِwith a trifling one وَهَاناand it faltered
عَظيمٍ وَجَاءَتْ بِالحَقِيرِ وَهَانا
The fates saw your patience in every calamity
Fate saw your patience in each mighty event,
of great magnitude, then brought a trifling one—and your patience faltered.
Yet it brought the trivial and slight to test you.
وَقَدْand may تَصبِرُendure الأَبطالُheroes لِلبيِضagainst swords والقَناand spears
وَقَدْ تَصبِرُ الأَبطالُ لِلبيِض والقَنا
وَتَأْلَمُand suffer pain منfrom قَرْصِthe bite البََعُوضةِthe mosquito أَحياناsometimes
وَتَأْلَمُ من قَرْصِ البََعُوضةِ أَحيانا
And heroes may withstand swords and spears,
Heroes can endure swords and spears,
yet sometimes suffer from a mosquito’s bite.
Yet a mosquito's sting pains them sometimes.
