ماnothing حَلَّundid عَزْمِيmy resolve مِثلُlike عَقْدِthe knot of قَبائهِhis robe
بَدْرٌa full moon يُعَدُّis counted البَدْرُthe full moon مِنamong رُقَبائهِhis watchers
Nothing undid my resolve like the knot of his robe.
Nothing loosens my resolve like her necklace
A full moon—the full moon itself is counted among his watchers.
A moon, counted among moons in her collar
يَحلُوis sweet مُقبَّلُهُhis lips وبَرْدُand the coolness رُضَابهِof his saliva
كالأُقحوانِlike daisies غَداةَon the morning غِبِّafter سَمائِهtheir rain
Sweet are his lips and the coolness of his saliva,
Sweet are her kisses, cool her cheeks
Like daisies on the morning after rain.
Like chamomile on a cloudy morning
يَتشبّهُlikens itself الغُصْنُthe bough الرَّطِيبُthe supple بقدّهِto his figure
يَاO غُصْنُbough فاتَكَhe has surpassed you لَسْتَyou are not منamong نُظَرائهِhis peers
The supple bough likens itself to his figure.
The graceful branch resembles her form
O bough, he has surpassed you; you are not among his peers.
Oh branch, she surpasses, you're not her peer
