تخْلُوare alone هُمُوميmy worries بيwith me وَأَخْلُوand I am alone بِهاwith them
طُوْلَthroughout لَيالٍnights مَاnot لَهَاfor them مِنany صَبَاحْdawn
My worries are alone with me, and I am alone with them,
My worries leave me and I leave them
All through nights that have no dawn.
Through nights so long they have no dawn
طَارَflew الكَرَىsleep عَنfrom وَكرهِits nest والدُّجَىand the darkness
غُرَابُهُits raven فِيهin it مَهِيضُbroken الجَناحْthe wing
Sleep has flown from its nest, while darkness—
Darkness has flown from its den
Its raven is there with a broken wing.
Its raven within folds its wings
وَلوْand if سَأَلْتَyou asked اللَّيلَthe night عَنabout صُبحهِits dawn
لَقَالَit would say أَلْهَتْهَdistracted it الوُجُوهُthe faces الصِّباحْbeautiful
And if you asked the night about its dawn,
If you asked the night about its morn
It would say, 'Beautiful faces have distracted it.'
It would say the faces of dawn have distracted it
وَقَالَand it said سَامَرْتُI conversed by night with نُجُومَstars السَّمَاthe sky
مُذْsince غَرَّبَتْset عَنْكَaway from you بُدورُfull moons السَّمَاحْgenerosity
And it said, 'I have conversed by night with the stars of heaven,
And it would say I conversed with heaven's stars
Since generosity's full moons set beyond your sight.'
Since the circles of forgiveness have set away from you
