ما علَى مَنْ كابَدَتْهُ جَلَدا
Indeed, my eye, though an ailing organ,
My teary eyes are a delicate organ,
has not surpassed in endurance the one it has struggled against.
Not for one who has endured its hardship,
مَاnot كَفَاهَاwas enough for it بُعْدُهَاits distance عنكَfrom you إلىuntil

أَنْ دَهَاهَا وَكُفِيتَ الرَّمَدا
Its distance from you was not enough for it, until
Its distance from you did not suffice it
eye inflammation struck it—may you be spared it.
Until it was afflicted and relieved of dryness.
