إلاَّexcept لأَنّيbecause I قَدْalready رُمِيتُI was pelted بِجَمْرَةِwith a burning coal
I would not neglect the duty of striving at your door,
I have sought your door, not neglecting my duty,
were it not that I have been pelted with a burning coal.
Except that I was pelted with burning embers.
فَاعْجَبْso marvel لِحَظٍّat a fate سَاقَbrought قَبلَbefore الحَجِّthe pilgrimage ليto me
رَمْيَthe casting of الجِمارِthe pebbles وَعِنْدَand in حَاليْmy condition وَقْفَتيmy standing; my halt
So marvel at a fate that brought me, before the pilgrimage,
So marvel at a glance that led me before the pilgrimage
the casting of pebbles—and, in my plight, my standing still.
To the stoning of the Jamarat, while in my state, my stance.
