وبِالحَشَاand in the heart ماwhat is بِخَدَّيْهاon her two cheeks مِنof اللَّهَبِflame
وبِالحَشَا ما بِخَدَّيْها مِن اللَّهَبِ
I have not forgotten when she bade me farewell, weeping,
I shall not forget when she bade me farewell weeping,
with the same flame in my heart as on her cheeks.
With cheeks untouched by flame in the darkness.
فَأَرسَلَتْthen she shed لُؤْلُؤاًpearls رَطْباًmoist تُكفكِفُهُshe wipes it away
فَأَرسَلَتْ لُؤْلُؤاً رَطْباً تُكفكِفُهُ

مِن فَوقِ مُخْتضِبٍ قَانٍ لِمُخْتَضِبِ
Then she shed moist pearls, wiping them away,
She sent forth a moist pearl that she softly moved
from a crimson-tinted cheek to a henna-stained hand.
From above a dyed camlet worn by one who dyes.

She promised me a meeting with her dream-phantom; I said, “And who
She brought me news of meeting her phantom. I said "And who
can sleep?” She said, “You have been modest in your request.
Can sleep?" She said "You have adorned desire with this."

If you are robbing your eyes of their sleep,
If you are robbing her eyes of their sleep,
then I may bestow upon the robbed what was stolen.”
Then I shall protect the robbed from the robber.
