I complained to her of a flame in my heart.
I complained of a fire raging within
Then she said, “And every lamp is like that.”
She said all lamps are this way
فَقُلْتُthen I said وَلِمْand why تُبعِيدنيyou keep me away إذاًthen
فَقُلْتُ وَلِمْ تُبعِيدني إذاً
فقالتْthen she said بِنارِكfrom your fire أَخْشَىI fear الأَذَىharm
فقالتْ بِنارِك أَخْشَى الأَذَى
Then I said, “And why do you keep me away, then?”
I asked why then does she keep me at bay
Then she said, “I fear harm from your fire.”
She said, your flames may lead me astray
