How worthy al-Salih is of what is due!
How worthy is the virtuous of his duty,
And how deserving the sword is of its wielder!
And how right is the sword for the striker,

Jupiter's good fortune serves his bow,
Saad's bow serves its purchaser,
in what rises from it and what sets.
Rising with it from dusk to dawn.

It twangs as it gazes with an eye of its own,
It rings when it is drawn with an eye,
with no screen between it and the sun.
Nothing under it screens the sun.

All this, while Sa'd al-Dhabih follows
And Saad the slaughterer pursues
his command in the pellets that strike true.
His command in the hitting crossbow,

The heir apparent has won the goal—
The heir won his unattainable want,
the loftiest—by the right of the victorious seeker.
And the seeker's right to overcome.

He ascended; even had the eagle of heaven tried,
He rose high, and if the eagle of the sky
it would not have escaped the clinging clay.
Tried, it would not escape the clay's grasp.

He persisted until he downed the bird
plunging down like a piercing star.

At length, when it touched the earth as it fell,
Until it hit the ground out of duty,
Bilal did his duty by it.
Bilal rose in it to do his duty,

And King al-Salih has been earnest in
And the righteous king has persisted
kingship; one in earnest is not like one at play.
In the kingdom - none persist like the player,

God has exalted Ali, so you cannot
God raised Ali high, so you see
see any adversary of his on earth.
No hostile on earth can harm him.
