تُنسيكَ عُرْقُوباً لهُ قَواعِدٌ

تُنسيكَ عُرْقُوباً لهُ قَواعِدٌ

عَن مَنْهجِ القَوْلِ الصَّحِيحِ نُكِّبَتْ

عَن مَنْهجِ القَوْلِ الصَّحِيحِ نُكِّبَتْ

His principles make you forget ʿUrqūb;

It diverts you with foundations unsound

they have been diverted from the path of truthful speech.

From the path of right speech it has swerved

لا تَبْنِ آمالاً عَلَيها إنَّها

لا تَبْنِ آمالاً عَلَيها إنَّها

وَاهِيَةُ الأُسِّ وَقَد تَعَرْقَبَتْ

وَاهِيَةُ الأُسِّ وَقَد تَعَرْقَبَتْ

Build no hopes upon them, for they are

Do not build hopes on it, for it is

weak in foundation and have become like ʿUrqūb.

Feeble at base, though propped and preserved
