لَقَدْsurely سَمِعَheard اللَّهُGod والكاتبانِand the two scribes
لَقَدْ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ والكاتبانِ
مَاwhat قَالَsaid فيabout عِرْضِيmy honor الكاتبُthe writer
مَا قَالَ في عِرْضِي الكاتبُ
God and the two scribes have surely heard
Indeed God and the two recording angels have heard
what the writer said against my honor.
What the writer has said in disparaging me,
وَماضَرَّنيand has not harmed me مَاwhat يَقولُsays العَدُوُّthe enemy
وَماضَرَّني مَا يَقولُ العَدُوُّ
إذاif رَدَّcounters غَيْبَتَيbackbiting against me الصَّاحِبُthe friend
إذا رَدَّ غَيْبَتَي الصَّاحِبُ
And what the enemy says does me no harm
And the slander of the enemy does not harm me
if my friend counters the backbiting against me.
If the absence of my friend comes to an end
