نَامَslept مَنwhoever نامَslept وانفردْتُand I was alone بِهَمّيwith my sorrow
أَينَwhere أَهليmy family ياO لَيْلُnight والأصدقاءُand the friends
Those who slept have slept, and I am alone with my sorrow.
Where are my family, O night, and my friends?
ماnot أظُنُّI think الصَّباحَthe morning حَيًّاalive فَيُرْجَىso it might be hoped for
لَكَfor you ياO لَيْلُnight فيconcerning الصَّباحِthe morning البَقاءُcontinued life
I do not think morning is alive, that one might hope for it;
May you live on, O night, after morning's passing.
