Every bold plunger into the depths is clad in a coat of mail,
Of every one who plunges into deep waters, clad in armor
woven over him out of the water’s bubbles.
Woven upon him from the water's foam.

As though he, with both hands at his oar,
And it is as though he, with both hands on his oar,
were intent on thrusting with a dark iron spear.
Sought to thrust with a straight, brown spear.

And you would picture him sitting on his seat
for that of a light, nimble rider on a fleet, sleek-coated mare.
To row, as though astride a sleek, swift mare.
