أَمَوْلايَO my lord هذاthis man مَادِحٌa panegyrist وابنُand son of مَادِحٍa panegyrist
أَمَوْلايَ هذا مَادِحٌ وابنُ مَادِحٍ
أَتىhe has come فيكَin you يَرْجوhoping for مَاجِداًa noble man وابنand son of مَاجِدِa noble man
أَتى فيكَ يَرْجو مَاجِداً وابن مَاجِدِ
O my lord, this is a panegyrist, son of a panegyrist,
Who comes hoping to find in you a noble man, son of a noble man.
ويَسأَلُand he asks for إنْجازاًfulfillment لِوَعْدِكَof your promise إنَّindeed مِنamong
ويَسأَلُ إنْجازاً لِوَعْدِكَ إنَّ مِن
شِعارِthe hallmarks of الكَرِيمِthe generous man الحُرِّthe freeborn صِدْقَfaithfulness to المَواعِدِpromises
شِعارِ الكَرِيمِ الحُرِّ صِدْقَ المَواعِدِ
And asks that you fulfill your promise; for among
The hallmarks of a generous, freeborn man is keeping promises.
فَأْمُرْso give orders لِعُمَّالِto the workers of الصِّناعَةِthe workshop إنَّماnothing but
فَأْمُرْ لِعُمَّالِ الصِّناعَةِ إنَّما
صِنَاعَتُهمْtheir craft فيin المَطْلِdelaying payment رَفْعُraising القَواعِدِthe foundations
صِنَاعَتُهمْ في المَطْلِ رَفْعُ القَواعِدِ
So give orders to the workshop’s workers; for
Their craft is nothing but raising the foundations of delay.
