إذا رَأَتْ شَيْبي على صَدْرِها

أَذكرَها القُطنَ ولَوْنَ الكَفَنْ

When she sees my gray hair upon her breast,

it reminds her of cotton and the color of the shroud.

وَبينَ فَخذَيْها تَرى مَيْتاً

وَبينَ فَخذَيْها تَرى مَيْتاً

مُصَبّراً مِن مُدّةٍ ما اندَفَنْ

مُصَبّراً مِن مُدّةٍ ما اندَفَنْ

And between her thighs she sees a corpse,

embalmed for some time, still unburied.
