كُنْ قَاطِعاً مَن قَطَعَ القِدَّه

كُنْ قَاطِعاً مَن قَطَعَ القِدَّه

وَسَلّ عَنهُ النَّفْسَ بِالوَحْدَه

وَسَلّ عَنهُ النَّفْسَ بِالوَحْدَه

Cut off whoever has cut the leather strap,

Cut ties with those who sever kinship

and comfort your soul in solitude, away from him.

And console yourself in solitude

لا تَمْخَضَنْ فِكْرَكَ في مَدْحهِ

لا تَمْخَضَنْ فِكْرَكَ في مَدْحهِ

فَذاكَ مَن لا عِنْدَهُ زُبْدَه

فَذاكَ مَن لا عِنْدَهُ زُبْدَه

Do not churn your thoughts in praising him,

Do not rack your brain praising him

for he is one who has no butter.

For he has no substance
