إنَّindeed فُتوحاًFutuh جَامِعٌgathering شَمْلَthe company of الفِتَنْtemptations
إنَّ فُتوحاً جَامِعٌ شَمْلَ الفِتَنْ
أَقوَدُbetter at leading لِلعَاصيfor the disobedient one الحُرُونِstubborn مِنthan رَسَنْa halter
أَقوَدُ لِلعَاصي الحُرُونِ مِن رَسَنْ
Indeed, Futuh gathers all temptations together,
Better than a halter at leading the stubborn rebel.
كَمْhow many وَرَدَcame to drink at الماءَthe water لَدَيهِat his place وَرَعَىand grazed
كَمْ وَرَدَ الماءَ لَدَيهِ وَرَعَى
حَشِيشَةًa tuft of grass فيin بَيتهِhis house ظبىٌa gazelle أَغَنْnasal-voiced
حَشِيشَةً في بَيتهِ ظبىٌ أَغَنْ
How many have come to water at his place and grazed
On grass within his house—nasal-voiced gazelles!
وَنُزْهَةُand the delight of الفُسَّاقِthe libertines فيin بَيتهِhis house ذاthis
وَنُزْهَةُ الفُسَّاقِ في بَيتهِ ذا
والماءُand water والخُضْرَةُand greenery والوَجْهُand the face الحَسَنْhandsome
والماءُ والخُضْرَةُ والوَجْهُ الحَسَنْ
And in this house of his lie the libertines' delights:
Water, greenery, and a handsome face.
