Send me one with two horns—for who else will get it for me,

and who will provide for my family or my neighbors?

With it I shall cut a finer figure on my feast day,

    offering up my greatest sacrifice.

The butcher will obey my bidding, so

Time shall not meet me with defiance.

What thereby raises both my standing and my cooking pot

is the spreading of my table among my brethren.

And the kitchen raises a banner for me,

a Qaysite banner of deepest crimson.
