And whoever saw me, with a donkey as my mount,
He who has seen me riding a donkey,
And my blue eyes rooted in Byzantine ancestry,
While heading to fight the Romans,

Would say when he saw me approaching,
“Neither a rider of horses nor an Arab face!”
"No horseman this, no face of Arabs."
