وَقَائلٍand a speaker قالَsaid ليto me لَمَّاwhen أَنْthat (linking particle) رأَىhe saw قَلَقيmy anxiety
وَقَائلٍ قالَ لي لَمَّا أَنْ رأَى قَلَقي
مِنfrom انتِظارِيmy waiting لآمالٍfor hopes تُمَنّيناfill us with hope
مِن انتِظارِي لآمالٍ تُمَنّينا
And someone said to me when he saw my anxiety
And a speaker said to me, when he saw my anxiety
From my waiting for hopes that hold out promises to us:
From my waiting for hopes we wished for
عَواقِبُoutcomes الصَّبْرِpatience فِيماaccording to what قالَsaid أَكثرُهُمْmost of them
عَواقِبُ الصَّبْرِ فِيما قالَ أَكثرُهُمْ
مَحمودَةٌpraiseworthy قُلْتُI said أَخشَىI fear أَنْthat تُخرِّيناthey make us shit
مَحمودَةٌ قُلْتُ أَخشَى أَنْ تُخرِّينا
“The outcomes of patience, as most people say,
The outcomes of patience, as most of them said
Are praiseworthy.” I said, “I fear they will make us shit.”
Are praiseworthy. I said, I fear they will disappoint us
