وَأُناسٌand some people غَرَّنيdeceived me ظَاهِرُهُمْtheir outward appearance
وَأُناسٌ غَرَّني ظَاهِرُهُمْ
وَجَوَىand inward sickness بَاطِنِهمْtheir inner selves كُلُّevery مُعِيبَهshameful fault
وَجَوَى بَاطِنِهمْ كُلُّ مُعِيبَه
And some people's outward appearance deceived me.
Some people deceived me with their outward show,
Yet inwardly they were sick with every shameful fault.
Yet their inner secrets were all blameworthy.
أَخْطَأَتْerred عَينيَmy eye فيin نَقْدِهِمِjudging them
أَخْطَأَتْ عَينيَ في نَقْدِهِمِ
أَيْقَظَmay awaken اللَّهُGod لَهُمْagainst them عَيْناًan eye مُصِيبَهthat strikes true
أَيْقَظَ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ عَيْناً مُصِيبَه
My eye erred in judging them.
My eyes were mistaken in judging them -
May God awaken against them an eye that strikes true.
May God awaken for them a discerning eye.
