وَرُبَّand many a شَخصينِtwo people قَطُّever ماnot اجتَمعاthey both met
وَرُبَّ شَخصينِ قَطُّ ما اجتَمعا
إلاexcept علَىfor هَرْتِtearing apart (defaming) غَائِبٍsomeone absent فَهُماso the two of them
إلا علَى هَرْتِ غَائِبٍ فَهُما
And many a pair of people has never met
Many a couple never met
Except to tear apart someone absent; for these two,
Except to tear some absent man apart
مَاnot مَرَّpassed يَومٌa day إلاexcept وَعِندَهُماand they both have
مَا مَرَّ يَومٌ إلا وَعِندَهُما
لَحْمَflesh رِجالٍof men أَوor يُولَغانِthey are both made to lap دِمَاblood
لَحْمَ رِجالٍ أَو يُولَغانِ دِمَا
Not a day has passed without their having
No day went by without their slandering
Men's flesh, or being made to lap blood.
The character or spilling the blood of others
