أَمَوْلايَO my lord قَدindeed ضَمَّنتُI incorporated قَولَthe words of كُثَيّرٍKuthayyir
أَمَوْلايَ قَد ضَمَّنتُ قَولَ كُثَيّرٍ
وَعِندِيَand I have مَاwhat يلْهيهِdistracts him عَنfrom حُبِّlove for عَزَّةِAzza
وَعِندِيَ مَا يلْهيهِ عَن حُبِّ عَزَّةِ
O my lord, I have incorporated Kuthayyir's words,
And I have what would distract him from his love for Azza.
وَقَدْand indeed كُنتُI was فيin شغْلَيْنِtwo concerns لكِنَّbut وَاحِداًone
وَقَدْ كُنتُ في شغْلَيْنِ لكِنَّ وَاحِداً
رَمَتَنيَshot at me فيهِin it الحَادِثاتُmisfortunes فَأَصْمَتِand struck me down
رَمَتَنيَ فيهِ الحَادِثاتُ فَأَصْمَتِ
And I was occupied with two concerns, but in one
Misfortunes shot at me and struck me down.
وَكُنتُand I was لَدَىin possession of رِجلَيْنِtwo legs رِجلٍa leg صَحيحةٍsound
وَكُنتُ لَدَى رِجلَيْنِ رِجلٍ صَحيحةٍ
وَرِجْلٍand a leg رَمىshot فيهاat it الزَّمانُTime فَشُلَّتِso it was paralyzed
وَرِجْلٍ رَمى فيها الزَّمانُ فَشُلَّتِ
And I had two legs: a sound leg,
And a leg that Time shot at, leaving it paralyzed.
وإنْand if لَمْdo not تَداركنيcome to my aid بِخَيْرٍwith kindness فَإنَّنيthen indeed I
وإنْ لَمْ تَداركني بِخَيْرٍ فَإنَّني
أَخَافُI fear علىfor الأُخْرَىthe other التيthat which حَلَّbefell بالتيupon the one
أَخَافُ على الأُخْرَى التي حَلَّ بالتي
And if you do not come to my aid with kindness, then I
Fear that the other will suffer what befell the first.
