وَقَدْand indeed صَدَقَتْwas truthful لَهْجَةُthe speech العَائِبِof the fault-finder
The armor-clad creature is a food deserving blame;
Wretched indeed is the labīs—a food to be faulted.
indeed, the faultfinder’s verdict has proved true.
And the fault-finder’s words were true.
نَدِمْتُI regretted لِمَلقَاهُmeeting it شَاكيbristling with السِّلاحِweapons
لَهُit has شَوْكَتاtwo spines طَاعِنٍof a stabber ضَارِبٍa striker
I regretted encountering it, bristling with arms:
I regretted meeting it, bristling as it was with weapons.
it has two barbs, fit for thrusting and striking.
It has the two spines of a stabber and striker.
فَآكُلُso I eat كَفِّيَmy hand مَعْwith لَحمْهِits flesh

Thus I eat two hands along with its flesh,
So I eat my hand along with its flesh,
and pluck out my mustache together with its raised tail.
And pluck out my mustache along with its spines.
