أَرَىI see عِنَبَgrapes البُسْتانِof the garden قَدْalready آنَhas come أَكلُهُeating them
وَأَصْبَحَand have become أَحْلَىthe sweetest مَاwhat يُذاقُis tasted وَأَطْيبَاand the finest
I see the garden’s grapes—the time to eat them has come,
I see the time has come to eat the garden's grapes,
and they have become the sweetest, most delicious thing one can taste.
And they have become the sweetest and finest of all that is tasted.
وَقَدْand already لَبِسَتْhave donned أَوْراقُهُtheir leaves الخُضْرُgreen صُفْرَةًa yellow hue
يَصُوغُfashions لَكَfor you العُنْقُودُthe cluster دُرّاًpearls مُذَهَّبَاgilded
Their green leaves have now donned yellow,
And their green leaves have donned a yellow hue;
while the cluster fashions for you pearls gilded with gold.
The cluster fashions gilded pearls for you.
وَليand I have مِنكَfrom you رَسْمٌa customary due عِنْدَat the time of إدْراكِreadiness قَطْفهِpicking them
لَناfor us مَأْكلاًas food مَالَمْunless تُبِحْyou make available مِنهُfrom them مَشْرَباًa drink
And I have a customary due from you when they ripen for picking:
And I have a customary due from you when they are ripe for picking:
something for us to eat—unless you permit a drink from them.
For us to eat, unless you make a drink from them available.
وَقَدْand already رَضَعَhas suckled العُصْفُورُthe sparrow مِنهُfrom it ثَدِيَّهُits breast
وَمَاand is not الكَرْمُthe vine لِلعُصْفُورِto the sparrow أُمّاًa mother ولاnor أَبَاa father
The sparrow has already suckled from it at both its breasts,
And the sparrow has already suckled at its breast,
though the vine is neither the sparrow’s mother nor its father.
Yet the vine is neither mother nor father to the sparrow.
وإنْand if زَادَthere is more عَنthan هذاthis تَربّبْتُI would make preserves of حَبَّهُits berries
وَعَبْدُكَand your servant لاdoes not يَخْتارُchoose شَيْئاًanything مُزَبَّبَاdried into raisins
And if it goes beyond this, I shall play the master over its berries;
And if there is more than this, I would make preserves of its berries;
and your servant chooses nothing once it has been made into raisins.
And your servant chooses nothing dried into raisins.
