يَمِيناًI swear لَقَدindeed سَرَّdelighted الإمامَthe Imam ابنَson of إدريسِIdris
يَمِيناً لَقَد سَرَّ الإمامَ ابنَ إدريسِ
جُلوسُكَyour sitting فيon يومday الخميسِThursday لِتَدْرِيسِfor teaching
جُلوسُكَ في يوم الخميسِ لِتَدْرِيسِ
I swear, Imam Ibn Idris was indeed delighted
O blessed one, Ibn Idris was indeed glad
by your taking your seat to teach on Thursday,
On Thursday as you sat teaching
وََتَشْيِيدُand strengthening ماwhat قَدْalready كانَhad been جَدُّكَyour grandfather بَانِياًbuilding
وََتَشْيِيدُ ما قَدْ كانَ جَدُّكَ بَانِياً
هُنَاكَthere مِنout of التَّقوَىpiety علَىupon خَيْرِthe finest تَأْسِيسِfoundation
هُنَاكَ مِن التَّقوَى علَى خَيْرِ تَأْسِيسِ
and your strengthening what your grandfather had built
And rebuilding what your grandfather had founded
there, out of piety, upon the finest foundation.
With piety and on goodness established
وَهَلْand is صَائِبٌone who strikes true أَوْلَىmore fitting مِنthan الغَيْثِrain بالرُّبىfor the hills
وَهَلْ صَائِبٌ أَوْلَى مِن الغَيْثِ بالرُّبى
وَهَلْand is صَائِلٌan assailant أَوْلَىmore fitting مِنthan اللَّيْثِthe lion بالخِيسِfor the thicket
وَهَلْ صَائِلٌ أَوْلَى مِن اللَّيْثِ بالخِيسِ
And is any who strikes true fitter for the hills than rain?
Is any rain more apt than bounty's downpour?
And is any assailant fitter for the thicket than the lion?
Or any lion more apt than the valiant's prowess?
لَعَمْرِيَby my life قَدindeed كانتْhad been مَنازِلُabodes عِزِّكُمْyour glory
لَعَمْرِيَ قَد كانتْ مَنازِلُ عِزِّكُمْ
لَمَاsurely not عَدِمَتْthey lacked تَاللّهِby God منin علمِكَyour learning الطُّوسيal-Tusi
لَمَا عَدِمَتْ تَاللّهِ من علمِكَ الطُّوسي
By my life, the abodes of your glory had indeed
By my life, your abodes were citadels of glory
not lacked al-Tusi in your learning, by God.
When, for lack of you, Tala'a Allah Tusi
رَكِبَتَyou rode إليهاto them فيamid خَميسٍan army مُبارَكٍblessed
رَكِبَتَ إليها في خَميسٍ مُبارَكٍ
وَلِلعِلْمِand for learning أَعلامٌbanners رُفِعْنَwere raised علىabove الروسِthe heads
وَلِلعِلْمِ أَعلامٌ رُفِعْنَ على الروسِ
You rode to them amid a blessed army,
Journeyed there on a blessed Thursday
and learning's banners were raised above the heads.
With sciences' flags held high atop all heads
وَصُلْتَand you attacked بِسَيْفِwith the sword of الحقِّtruth فيagainst كُلِّevery بِدْعَةٍinnovation
وَصُلْتَ بِسَيْفِ الحقِّ في كُلِّ بِدْعَةٍ
فَمَكَّنْتَthus you empowered جُنْدَthe host of اللَّهِGod مِنover جُنْدِthe host of إبليسِIblis
فَمَكَّنْتَ جُنْدَ اللَّهِ مِن جُنْدِ إبليسِ
And you struck at every innovation with the sword of truth,
With the sword of truth you pierced each heresy
thus giving God's host mastery over the host of Iblis.
And made God's army triumph over Satan's forces
