وَقدand indeed خَجَلَhas blushed الوَرْدُthe rose مُذْغِبْتَsince you went away عَنَّاfrom us
وَكادand nearly يَكونُbecome شَقِيقَa full brother of الشَّقِيقِthe anemone
And the rose has blushed since you left us,
The roses were ashamed when you were absent from us
And has almost become the anemone’s brother.
And the anemones nearly wilted
فَبَادِرْso hasten إليناto us فَدَتْكَmay they ransom you النُّفوسُthe souls
فَلَمْfor ... did not يَخفَbe hidden عنكَfrom you انتظارُthe waiting of المَشُوقِthe yearning one
So hasten to us—may souls be your ransom!
So hurry back to us, for our souls ransom you
For the yearning one’s waiting is no secret to you:
Our longing wait was not hidden from you
فلِلبابِso, toward the door آذانُthe ears of سُوساتِناour irises
وَأَعْيُنُand the eyes of نَرْجِسِناour narcissi لِلطَّرِيقِtoward the road
So our irises’ ears are turned toward the door,
For our door has ears of lilies
And our narcissi’s eyes toward the road.
And our narcissi eyes gaze upon the path
