كُنْ لي جَوَاباً فَلفظي

إليكَ لَفْظٌ وَجِيزْ

إليكَ لَفْظٌ وَجِيزْ

Be my answer, for my words

Be to me a response, my word

to you are brief.

To you is a concise speech

والوَرْدَ عِندِيَ ضَيْفٌ

والوَرْدَ عِندِيَ ضَيْفٌ

والوَرْدُ ضَيْفٌ عَزِيزْ

والوَرْدُ ضَيْفٌ عَزِيزْ

And the rose is a guest with me,

The roses with me a guest

and the rose is a cherished guest.

The roses a most honoured guest

وفي يَمنِيَ كُوْبٌ

وفي يَمنِيَ كُوْبٌ

وَفي يِسَارِيَ كُوْزْ

وَفي يِسَارِيَ كُوْزْ

And in my right hand is a cup,

In my right hand a cup

and in my left hand a jug.

In my left hand a goblet

فَزُرْ صَحِيحَ مِزاجٍ

فَزُرْ صَحِيحَ مِزاجٍ

وَمَا خَفَتْك الرُّمُوزْ

وَمَا خَفَتْك الرُّمُوزْ

So come visit in good health,

Visit then in good spirits

and the hints have not escaped you.
