عوجواturn aside المَطِيَّthe riding camels عَلَيَّtoward me ذاbearing الأَكوارِthe saddle frames
كَيماso that إِخَبِّرَكُمI may tell you مِنَsome of الأَخبارِthe news
Turn the saddle-bearing camels toward me,
Urge on the swift camel, you who bear tidings,
So that I may tell you some news.
That you may inform us of the news.
إِنَّindeed الحَلالَal-Halal وَخَنزَراًand Khanzar وَلَدَتهُماbore them both
أُمٌّa mother مُعامِسَةٌsecretly promiscuous عَلىduring الأَطهارِthe intervals between menses
Indeed, al-Halal and Khanzar were both born
Truly Halal and a pig she bore them -
To a mother who secretly took lovers between her menses.
A defiled mother, though seeming pure.
إِنَّindeed الحَياal-Haya وَلَدَتbore أَبيmy father وَعُمومَتيand my paternal uncles
وَنَبَتُّand I grew فيin سَبطِstraight الفُروعِthe branches نُضارِof pure stock
Indeed, al-Haya bore my father and my paternal uncles,
Truly the snake bore my father and my uncles,
And I grew in a straight-branched tree of pure stock.
And I sprang up in the tribe, a fresh shoot.
وَنَبَتَّand you grew شَرَّthe worst بَنيthe sons of تَميمٍTamim مَنصِباًin lineage
دَنِسَsullied المُروءَةِmanly virtue ظاهِرَplainly showing الأَعيارِthe disgraces
And you grew up the lowest-born of Tamim's sons,
And the worst scourge of the tribe of Temim sprang up,
Your manly virtue sullied, your disgraces plain.
Defiling honor, his evil plain to see.
