بِذَكرَةَ إِطراقَ الظِباءِ مِنَ الوَبلِ
They spend the night prostrate at the roar of one broad of chest,
The forbidden lovers spend their nights bowing in prostration,
at Dhakrah, like gazelles lowering their heads beneath a downpour.
Remembering the slanted gaze of the wild cows among the scrub.

وَلا أَصبَحَت تَمشي بِسَكّاءَ في وَحلِ
So may my Lord never send her back to Marj Rahit,
My Lord will not return her to the tribe of tents,
nor may morning find her walking at Sakka in mud.
Nor will she walk proudly again over muddy trails.

She departed, and Rafidah granted her a pledge of protection,
She went away in disgrace, led by a noble she-camel
under which she journeys between al-Aqa'is and al-Raml.
Traveling with her between encampments and over sand dunes.
