فَلَيتَكَ حالَ البَحرُ دونَكَ كُلُّهُ

فَلَيتَكَ حالَ البَحرُ دونَكَ كُلُّهُ

وَمَن بِالمَرادي مِن فَصيحٍ وَأَعجَمِ

وَمَن بِالمَرادي مِن فَصيحٍ وَأَعجَمِ

So, would that the whole sea separated me from you

If only the sea stood between us entirely

and everyone in al-Marādi, articulate and inarticulate.

And all the eloquent and inarticulate ones in the meadows
